HandleHunt Pro — Privacy Policy
Effective: June 2026 · Last updated: June 6, 2026
HandleHunt Pro ("the Extension") is a browser extension that checks username availability across online platforms. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
The Extension collects only what is needed to provide the service:
- Account credentials: Your email address and password are sent to our server (handlehunt.io) for authentication. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth and are never stored in plaintext.
- Search queries: The usernames you search for are sent directly to third-party platforms to check availability. If you choose to save a search, the handle and results are stored in our database.
- Extension version: We record which version of the extension you are using to help with support and compatibility.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Browsing history
- Personal files or documents
- Cookies or site data from other websites
- Keystrokes or form inputs outside the extension popup
- Location data
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
3. How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate your Pro subscription
- To check username availability on platforms you search
- To save search results when you choose to save them
- To display analytics in your dashboard (for admin users)
4. Third-Party Services
The Extension communicates with:
- handlehunt.io — our API server for authentication, saving searches, and subscription management
- Third-party platforms (GitHub, Instagram, X, etc.) — to check if a username exists. These are simple HTTP requests; no data beyond the username is sent.
- Supabase — our database provider, hosted in the cloud with encryption at rest
5. Data Storage and Security
Your authentication token is stored locally in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local). Saved searches are stored in our Supabase database. All communication uses HTTPS with TLS 1.3 encryption.
6. Data Retention
Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your saved searches at any time from your dashboard. Signing out of the extension clears all locally stored data.
7. Your Rights
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing hello@handlehunt.io. You can stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
